Tabor Home (Leadville)

National Register of Historic Places
Good forHistory buffs

The house that became too valuable to stay put. Built in 1877 at the founding of Leadville, the two-story clapboard home of Horace and Augusta Tabor was physically relocated from Harrison Avenue to 116 East Fifth Street when Horace decided the original site was better used for his new opera house. The couple lived here until 1881, when Horace left Augusta for Baby Doe. Augusta died a millionaire. That same year, Horace went bankrupt. The home, now managed by the City of Leadville, is open seasonally and retains some of the Tabors' original Victorian furnishings.
