Airline Drive Historic Corridor

Before Interstate 10, there was Airline Highway — the two-lane road that connected New Orleans to Baton Rouge and carried every traveler, trucker, and politician between the two cities. The Jefferson Parish stretch still has the motor courts, neon signs, and roadside architecture of that era, though most of it is fading. This was the commercial spine of the parish before Veterans Boulevard stole the traffic. Mosca's, the roadhouse Italian restaurant that opened on Highway 90 in 1946, belongs to the same era of roadside Louisiana — places that only existed because the highway ran past their door.
