Good forHistory buffs
The house has moved twice — from its original corner of South Main and Hopkins Streets in 1809, and again in 1928 to its present location — which makes it unusual among colonial-era structures: relocated, not demolished, and still standing. Built in 1707 and enlarged in 1742–43, it was home to Stephen Hopkins, ten-time governor and Declaration signer, until his death in 1785. George Washington slept here on April 5, 1776. The house is currently undergoing exterior restoration; check before visiting.
