Prospect Terrace Park

Good forOutdoor lovers

Founded in 1869 on land given to the city by neighborhood residents, Prospect Terrace Park sits on College Hill on Congdon Street with a west-facing view that takes in the Rhode Island State House, Providence Place Mall, and the steeple of the First Baptist Church in America. Beneath a roughly 15-foot granite statue of Roger Williams — dedicated in 1939, designed by Ralph Thomas Walker — lie Williams' own remains, reinterred in a bronze casket. H. P. Lovecraft came here often. So does everyone else who wants to see Providence whole.
