Rapides Symphony Orchestra

The Rapides Symphony Orchestra has served Central Louisiana since 1967, founded by a group of community musicians under director Arthur King -- one of the longer-running regional orchestras in the Deep South, performing a seasonal schedule at the Coughlin-Saunders Performing Arts Center in Alexandria. It represents the organized classical music tradition of a mid-sized Louisiana city historically underrepresented in state arts documentation.
