Wellfleet Drive-In Theatre

Cape Cod's only surviving drive-in opened July 3, 1957, and it's still running first-run double features every summer night on its 100-by-44-foot screen. One of roughly 300 left in the country, it's also a venue for the Provincetown International Film Festival. The complex hasn't coasted on nostalgia alone — the miniature golf obstacles date to 1961, and the indoor cinema was added in the 1980s when film distributors began cutting off drive-ins from first-run titles. Frommer's put it on their list of 500 places to see before they disappear. That's reason enough.
