Canandaigua Lake

Good forOutdoor lovers

The Seneca called it *tganǫdæ:gwęh* — the chosen spot. That name has held. Canandaigua Lake runs 15.5 miles through a glacially carved valley in western New York, the westernmost of the major Finger Lakes. Its water is clear enough to see the bottom 30 to 50 feet down, and it serves as the sole drinking water source for several surrounding communities. Ninety-seven percent of the shoreline is privately held. The three percent that isn't is worth finding.
