Balneario de Boquerón

The Puerto Rican government manages this public beach on Boquerón Bay, and by local reckoning it competes with Luquillo Beach for the best balneario on the island. The Foundation for Environmental Education has awarded it Blue Flag status — a designation tied to water quality and safety standards. The adjacent village, El Poblado, closes its central streets to cars on weekends; the seafood is what Cabo Rojo is known for, and you'll eat it close to where it was caught.
