Privacy policy

Updated October 7, 2026. This policy covers Portage Travel, photo sharing and television viewing in our phone, web and TV apps.

Who we are

Portage is operated by Cabildo Companies LLC, a Virginia limited liability company. For privacy requests, contact privacy@myportage.app. For help using Portage, visit Portage support.

What we collect and why

  • Account and sharing information. Your email, name and sign-in identifiers let you access your account. Household membership, invitations, recipient contact details and sharing permissions let you send pictures and manage connected screens.
  • Things you save and share. Photos, supported video or audio, captions, notes, comments, albums, trips, saved places and associated dates or locations let us provide your library and scrapbook. We also store the calendars and household information you choose to connect or display.
  • Location. With your device permission, Travel can use precise GPS coordinates for nearby places, navigation and trip capture. An active trip can send periodic location updates while you use it. Locations saved with a trip or memory become part of that content and follow its sharing settings. You can also enter a ZIP code for an approximate location; the ZIP lookup is sent to Zippopotam.us. You can turn off device location permission; location-dependent features will then be limited.
  • Purchases. We store plan, gift, payment-status and transaction references to deliver purchases and manage billing. Stripe processes checkout and payment details.
  • Usage and technical information. Search queries, account, device and session identifiers, content interactions, app events and technical request information help us run the service, personalize discovery, diagnose problems and prevent abuse. Your device also stores sign-in and display preferences.
  • Support. We use the information you provide when requesting help to investigate and respond.

Who can see your content

Sharing depends on the audience and permissions you choose. A household member or authorized recipient can see the content made available to them; a connected television can display its selected content to people in the room. Public contributions can be seen by others. Anyone who receives a share link may be able to open it, so send links with care.

Following a school, organization or other source does not give that source access to your private albums. Removing permission stops future access through the service where that permission applies; it cannot remove a copy someone already downloaded or recorded.

Services that help us provide Portage

Cabildo services share account and storage infrastructure where needed to provide the features you use. We use service providers for authentication, storage, hosting, payments and message delivery, including Supabase, Cloudflare, Vercel and Stripe. Requests to image and map providers include technical information such as an IP address.

Travel’s search explanations send your search words and matching public place information to Anthropic. If you use voice transcription, the submitted recording is sent to Mistral for transcription. Do not include sensitive information in a search or recording unless you intend to submit it for that feature. Opening an outside website or checkout also brings you under that service’s privacy policy.

Travel can include advertising and affiliate links. Where Google advertising is enabled, Google receives technical and advertising-interaction information under its own policy. Outside merchants may receive referral information when you follow an affiliate link. Device privacy settings control permissions available on that device.

We may disclose information when required by law or to protect users and the service. Information may also transfer as part of a business sale or reorganization, subject to applicable privacy obligations.

Your choices and requests

Use album, sharing, calendar and screen controls to change what is shown and who has access. In Account, “Download everything” exports your household’s Portage information, including time-limited links for saving its pictures. The download explains the link expiry.

To delete Portage, open Account → Delete Portage account. This keeps your shared Cabildo sign-in, profile, household and archive for your other Cabildo apps. You can manage your Cabildo account separately. To request access or correction, or to report a privacy concern involving a child, contact privacy@myportage.app. We may need to verify your identity and authority over the information. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to restrict processing, object or appeal a response.

Deleting an app or disconnecting a television does not delete your account or cancel a subscription. Manage a purchase through its billing provider; Portage’s Account page includes billing controls for eligible purchases.

Retention and security

We retain information to provide your account and saved content, fulfill purchases, resolve support requests and meet legal or security obligations. Shared contributions, transaction records and backup copies may need different retention periods. A deletion request does not automatically remove another person’s independent copy or shared contribution.

Information is processed on infrastructure in the United States and by our service providers in the countries where they operate. We use access controls and encrypted connections to protect information. No system can guarantee complete security. Contact us if you believe someone has accessed your account or content without permission.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change and provide any additional notice required by law.
