Good forFamilies
The catboat *Vanity*, built over the winter of 1928–29 by Edgartown boatbuilder Manuel Swartz Roberts for commercial fisherman Thomas Pease and his son Oscar, worked Martha's Vineyard waters for over half a century. That boat now anchors the museum's collection, which covers the island's history from colonial times through the whaling era and into the present — including a Fresnel lens used in the island's lighthouses and Wampanoag cultural materials. The Thomas Cooke House, built in 1740, is part of the campus.
