Martha's Vineyard Camp Meeting Association (Cottage City)

National Historic Landmark

Every third Wednesday in August, several thousand people walk the 34 acres of Oak Bluffs campground while lanterns light up more than 300 gingerbread Victorian cottages at once. The Martha's Vineyard Camp Meeting Association has been a Methodist meeting ground since the 1800s. The iron Tabernacle at its center dates to 1879, and both the Tabernacle and the broader grounds carry National Historic Landmark designation.
