Moravian Church of Ephraim

National Register of Historic Places

Norwegian immigrant Andreas Iverson founded this congregation in 1853, walking north over the ice from Green Bay to stake a claim on the horseshoe-shaped bay that would become Ephraim. The church he designed and built with his congregation — completed in 1859, making it the first church on the Door County peninsula — was later moved from its original site on the shore of Eagle Harbor to its present location.
