Newport State Park

Door County sells itself hard, and most of it delivers exactly what's advertised. Newport is the exception — Wisconsin's only designated wilderness state park, 2,373 acres at the tip of the Door Peninsula protecting 11 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline. Every campsite requires hiking in. In 2017, the International Dark-Sky Association made it official: the night sky here is worth protecting. Come for the dark.
