Good forHistory buffs
Jens Jensen founded The Clearing in 1935 — a folk school built on a private estate he had been shaping since 1919, drawing inspiration from the folk high schools of his native Denmark. Jensen lived here until his death in 1951. After decades under outside management, the school regained independence as a nonprofit in 1988 and still runs classes in natural sciences, fine arts, crafts, and humanities for adults. It has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1974.
