First Beach (La Push)

First Beach sits at the end of the road into La Push, on the Quileute Indian Reservation — the only one of the La Push beaches you can reach by vehicle. The crescent shape pulls in driftwood that slows the waves and makes standing in the water dangerous. Sitka spruce and evergreen crowd the shore. Surfers come in spring, hikers in summer, storm watchers in fall and winter. Drive here. Walk to the water's edge. The ocean will make the case for itself.
