Scialo Bros. Bakery

Federal Hill's last authentic Italian bakery — that's what Wikipedia calls it, and the record bears it out. Luigi Scialo and his brother Gaetano opened at 257 Atwells Avenue in 1916; their daughters Lois and Carol ran it until the pandemic closed the doors in March 2020. Lois passed that August. An anonymous group of investors bought the building and reopened it in May 2021, same name, same recipes, Carol still behind the counter.
