Plaza de Armas, San Juan

Between Calles Fortaleza and San Francisco, the Plaza de Armas has served as Old San Juan's main square since the 16th century — the nucleus from which the colonial city grew. What began as a military parade ground became the civic heart of the capital, anchored by a central fountain, four statues representing the seasons, and the San Juan City Hall on its edge. It remains the place locals actually use: the bench, the café table, the pigeons.
