Toro Negro State Forest

Good forOutdoor lovers

Puerto Rico's highest cloud forest sits in the Cordillera Central, spreading across 8,204 cuerdas of mountain terrain through five municipalities. Cerro de Punta, the island's highest peak at 4,390 feet, rises from its western section. Nine rivers flow out of the forest. The land was coffee plantation before a reforestation program began in the 1930s; what grows here now was largely planted by hand. Eighteen kilometers of trails, two natural swimming pools, and an observation tower make this worth the winding drive up PR-143.
