Vilano Beach (Vilano Beach Boardwalk and Fishing Pier)

The beach the locals claim sits just north of downtown St. Augustine, across the Tolomato River, on the southern tip of San Pablo Island. The pier draws fishermen and sunset-watchers; the surf draws everyone else. Coastal A1A, designated an All-American Road, is the only way in — a scenic approach that doubles as a filter, keeping Vilano a few degrees quieter than the tourist corridor it borders.
