Bar Harbor Historical Society

Good forFamilies

The Bar Harbor Historical Society began in a room under the stairs of the Jesup Library, founded in 1946 after a public exhibition honoring George B. Dorr, the father of Acadia National Park. In 2019, it moved into La Rochelle — a 41-room, 13,000-square-foot brick estate built in 1902 on West Street, now a museum covering Bar Harbor, Acadia, and Mount Desert Island history. Open late May through October, Monday through Saturday.
