Bourne Scenic Park and Cape Cod Canal

Since 1914, a 7-mile canal has separated most of Cape Cod from the Massachusetts mainland — cutting across the base of the peninsula and turning what was once a geographic inconvenience into a managed corridor. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers runs it now, and the service roads on each bank function as a linear park: flat, open, and direct. Come to walk or ride alongside working water, with ships moving through at close range.
