Roosevelt built this six-room Georgia pine house in 1932, first drawn to Warm Springs in 1924 by its 88-degree natural springs and the hope they might ease his polio. He made 16 trips here during his presidency. On April 12, 1945, he was sitting for a portrait when he suffered a stroke and died. The house has been preserved as it was that day. The museum holds his 1938 Ford convertible fitted with hand controls, his stagecoach, and the Unfinished Portrait — still unfinished.
