Lake Delano at F.D. Roosevelt State Park

The CCC built Lake Delano in 1935 as part of the same work that raised the Liberty Bell Pool and Roosevelt Lodge — the young men of the Great Depression shaping 15 acres of water out of the Pine Mountain Ridge. It sits inside F.D. Roosevelt State Park, Georgia's largest, and a wooded campground runs to its edge. You come here to fish, to sit on a cabin porch, to be near something that was made by hand when the country needed making.
