Museo de la Música Puertorriqueña

The pastel villa on the corner of Isabel and Salud streets in Ponce has housed the Museo de la Música Puertorriqueña since the Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña moved it here in 1996. The building was the downtown residence of the Serrallés-Nevárez family — the same family behind Destilería Serrallés and Don Q rum. Rooms trace Puerto Rican music from Taíno, Spanish, and African roots through danza, bomba, and plena, with instruments, memorabilia, and exhibitions in both Spanish and English.
